Raffaela Schreurs attended the GIN-TONIC Annual Meeting in Turin, where researchers, project partners and professionals came together to exchange knowledge about insects, nutrition, food and feed.
The meeting was a valuable opportunity to connect with people working in the insect sector across Europe. During the event, Raffaela joined different conversations about communication, dissemination and knowledge sharing. She also met several PhD researchers and young professionals working on topics related to insect nutrition, research and innovation.
As part of NGN’s communication work, NGN also supported the development of the GIN-TONIC communication materials. Together with the organising team, NGN helped create the STSM map and the conference flyers. This contribution fits well with NGN’s role in communication and dissemination activities and supports the wider visibility of insect-related research and collaboration opportunities.
The annual meeting was also used as an opportunity to introduce IPPEC in informal conversations with researchers and professionals. Raffaela explained some of the activities planned within IPPEC, including the IPPEC Cafés that are planned for September. These Cafés will be informal moments to exchange knowledge, discuss relevant topics and bring people from different parts of the insect sector together.
This connection with GIN-TONIC is relevant for IPPEC because the project aims to build bridges between research, education, entrepreneurs and practice. By connecting with researchers working on insect nutrition and related topics, IPPEC can strengthen its knowledge base and expand its network. These contacts can support future activities within the IPPEC learning community, including knowledge exchange sessions, expert input and possible collaborations.
One of the ideas discussed during the meeting was the possibility of organising a future IPPEC exchange moment with young researchers. There is no fixed planning yet, but the idea is to create a space where young researchers can share their work, meet each other and connect with IPPEC activities. This would help IPPEC involve a new generation of researchers and professionals in the development of the insect sector.
For IPPEC, Raffaela’s participation in the GIN-TONIC Annual Meeting contributes to the project’s dissemination, networking and learning community objectives. It helped increase awareness of IPPEC, created new links with researchers and opened possibilities for future knowledge exchange.
